Sankofa African Drums & Dance Ensemble

Experience the vibrant rhythms, songs, and dances of Ghana, West Africa, performed by Vanderbilt University’s Sankofa African Drum & Dance Ensemble. Composed of student performers, Sankofa combines music, movement, and storytelling in a dynamic celebration of West African cultural traditions. Named for the Akan concept of “return and retrieve,” the ensemble honors the past while carrying its traditions forward through performance.
