Blair School of Music Professor of Violin Carolyn Huebl takes the stage October 27, 2026, for a Blair Master Series recital showcasing the artistry that has earned her acclaim as a soloist, chamber musician, recording artist, and teacher. Praised for performances that are both expressive and fearless, Huebl has appeared on concert stages throughout North and South America and Europe and is a founding member of the celebrated Blakemore Trio.
Known for her commitment to both the classical canon and contemporary music, Huebl brings a wealth of musical experience and insight to every performance. About Carolyn Huebl:
Violinist Carolyn Huebl enjoys a distinguished career as a performer, recording artist, and teacher. She is Professor of Violin at Vanderbilt University’s Blair School of Music and violinist of The Blakemore Trio. Prior to joining Vanderbilt, she served as assistant principal second violin of the Pittsburgh Symphony and taught at Carnegie Mellon University. Critics have praised her performances as “unfailingly sensitive,” “utterly fearless,” and “pristine,” while The Strad has noted her warm sound and expressive artistry.
A sought-after soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician, Huebl has performed throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, and Argentina. As a founding member of The Blakemore Trio, she has appeared on major chamber music series nationwide, including a New York debut at Merkin Hall. Her recordings include works by Beethoven, Ravel, Adam Schoenberg, Susan Botti, Igor Stravinsky, and Alfred Schnittke. A dedicated advocate for contemporary music, she has commissioned and premiered works by leading composers including Susan Botti, Michael Hersch, Paul Osterfield, and Adam Schoenberg.
An accomplished teacher, Huebl serves on the faculties of the Green Mountain and Madeline Island Chamber Music Festivals and co-founded the Hilton Head Chamber Music Institute with her husband, cellist Felix Wang. Her students have gone on to study at many of the nation’s leading conservatories and universities and have earned prizes in numerous regional and national competitions. Huebl holds a D.M.A. from the University of Michigan and bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the Cleveland Institute of Music.
