About
What do George Thorogood, Buddy Guy, Johnny Winter, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Delbert McClinton, Susan Tedeschi, Van Zant, B.B. King, NRBQ, Hank Williams Jr. and Shemekia Copeland have in common? Triple threat, Grammy winning songwriter, singer, producer, drummer TOM HAMBRIDGE!
A native son of Buffalo, New York, Tom started playing drums at the age of 5 and was in his first band, Undertow, in the 3rd grade. Tom’s formal education began with a scholarship to Boston’s prestigious Berklee College of Music, where he frequently returns as a guest lecturer. After years of touring and performances with the many of the biggest names in the business (Chuck Berry, Roy Buchanan, The Drifters and many more), as well as producing, writing & touring with his own band T.H. & The Wreckage, Tom set his sights on Nashville TN where he lives and works today as a producer, songwriter, and performer.
Soon after arriving to Nashville, Hambridge signed a publishing deal that led to remarkable success with countless songs used in television, major motion pictures such as Disney’s “Cars” & “Ratatouille”, and by many legendary recording stars including: Buddy Guy, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Meat Loaf, Montgomery Gentry and Johnny Winter.
Tom has written songs that have been recorded by a list of who’s who in the recording industry. Legendary 70’s rocker Meat Loaf recently recorded Tom’s song “Boneyard”. It is the B side of his latest single “Los Angeloser” and the BONUS iTunes track from his latest release, Hang Cool Teddy Bear. Tom was also the recipient of the ASCAP Song Of The Year Award in 2007 for the hit single 'Every Time I Hear Your Name', recorded by country artist Keith Anderson. More recently, American Idol Runner-Up Danny Gokey’s RCA Debut CD 'My Best Days' features Tom's song “Life On Ya”; Gretchen Wilson’s New CD features “Walk On Water” and the title track “I Got Your Country Right Here”, both written by Tom; Texas Blues Guitarist Guitar Shorty recorded “Get Off” On Alligator Records; and on Jack Ingram’s newest CD Big Dreams and High Hopes, you can hear Tom’s song “Not Giving Up On Me”. And Sony recording artist Joanna Smith recorded “Gettin’ Married”, which is also the title track of her debut release. It hit the charts with a bullet.
As a Producer, Tom has worked with many of the best in the business. He received a 2011 Grammy® for Best Contemporary Blues Album (Producer of Buddy Guy’s ‘Living Proof’) and 2004 Grammy® nomination for his role as Producer of Johnny Winter‘s recording “I’m a Bluesman.” In 2008, Tom produced a star-studded group of musicians including Eric Clapton, Derek Trucks and Robert Randolph on Buddy Guy’s CD, Skin Deep, which was also scored a Grammy® nomination for Best Traditional Blues Album of the Year. Skin Deep is Buddy’s highest charting record of all time and earned a formidable number of positive reviews as well as winning Album of the Year in 2009 at the Blues Music Awards.
In addition he produced Susan Tedeschi‘s Platinum-selling, Grammy® nominated “Just Won’t Burn” CD. Tom wrote her Top 10 Triple A hits “Rock Me Right” and “It Hurt So Bad.” He has also co-produced and written songs on George Thorogood‘s last three CD’s, one of which debuted as #1 on the Billboard Blues Album Charts. Much to his kids’ delight, Tom has recorded vocals on tracks for two smash DISNEY hits, “Cars” (2006) and “Ratatoullie” (2007.) His latest Disney project entailed producing, arranging and playing drums on BB King‘s smooth and beautiful rendition of “You’ve Got a Friend in Me”. Currently Tom’s music can be heard everywhere …. the BB King and Buddy Guy collaboration, ” Stay Around a Little Longer”, which was written and produced by Tom, is a historic first-time studio duet of the two legends. The song appears on Buddy’s newest Grammy® winning album, Living Proof, released October, 26 2010 to critical acclaim worldwide.
And if that’s not enough, Tom has recorded & released 5 critically acclaimed solo CD’s (Still Running, Balderdash, Bang ‘n Roll, Tom Hambridge & The Rattlesnakes Live! and Boogieman) and actively tours with his band, Tom Hambridge & The Rattlesnakes.
