Formed in 1987 by Tariq 'Black Thought' Trotter and Ahmir 'Questlove' Thompson, the group built a reputation for live-instrumentation and sustained critical success. They have won multiple Grammy Awards, released landmark albums such as Things Fall Apart (1999) and Phrenology (2002), and have served as Jimmy Fallon's late-night house band since 2009.
