Orchestra Kentucky was founded in the summer of 2000 by Jeff Reed and Mike Thurman and presented its first concert on September 11, 2000. The organization expanded into a professional regional pops and family-oriented ensemble, established a youth orchestra and String Academy, and later became part of Arts of Southern Kentucky when it assumed management of the Southern Kentucky Performing Arts Center. Founding music director Jeffrey Reed has led the ensemble for decades and served as President & CEO of Arts of Southern Kentucky.
