About
Mikayla began playing songs on her parents’ upright piano before she
could reach the keys on her own, but she didn’t happen to pick up the
ukulele until she was 20 years old, when she needed an instrument small
enough to fit into her suitcase to bring to Africa for a semester abroad
in college. She adores both instruments, but her voice will always be
her favorite. She describes her music as “NeoSoulPop," which combines
catchy rhythms and hooks with introspectively driven lyrics. While all
of her songs stem from personal experiences, they also tend to
illuminate emotions that people from all walks of life can relate to.
Mikayla currently lives in New Orleans, LA where she is excited and
inspired to play, write, and perform as much as possible, whether it is
outside on the Mississippi River, on the streets of the French Quarter,
or in a venue
downtown.
