Imogen Clark

Having already played on some of Australia’s most renowned stages, including Sydney Entertainment Centre, Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre, Forum Theatre Melbourne and Tamworth Regional Entertainment Centre, it’s no wonder nineteen-year-old Imogen Clark is being regarded by Drum Media as “showing a maturity beyond her years both in song, her writing and performance...Certainly a mainstay in the Australian live scene” (Timothy Scarfe, 2013). Imogen is a singer/songwriter from Sydney whose experience includes having been a Grand Finalist in the Telstra Road to Discovery, as well as a graduate of both the Australian Academy of Country Music and the NSW Talent Development Project. Having self-produced two EPs of original music, Imogen has now teamed up with Sydney producer Murray Sheridan to release a third EP titled 'Stories from a Porcelain City' (2013), which for the first time features her new band of experienced session musicians. She has been interviewed and played live on Felicity Urquhart's ABC Saturday Night Country and Tamworth's 2TM, and as a result of her graduation from the Talent Development Project, Imogen has won the Jands Singer/Songwriter Award and recorded her first single 'Porcelain' at Sony Studios in 2012. Her long-spanning gigging experience has included being a support act for Matt Corby, The McClymonts and Christine Anu, as well as playing pre-show entertainment at Sydney Entertainment Centre for the Mumford & Sons, Paul Simon, P!nk, Carole King, Simple Minds and Leonard Cohen concerts. Having played packed out shows at the Blue Mountains Folk Festival and Northern Beaches Music Festival in 2013, Imogen was sought out to perform at the Sydney Blues & Roots Festival, Horizon Youth Music Festival, and Sydney's Vivid Festival, all in May of 2014. She will also represent Sounds Australia at Nashville’s Americana Festival in September this year. In early 2014, Imogen embarked on The Mountains to the Sea co-headline tour with singer/songwriter Joe Mungovan, gaining great momentum and fantastic responses at their shows spanning the east coast of NSW. Get Shot Magazine’s article on the tour is quoted as saying "Imogen's original material is fantastic. Her songwriting and class on stage are well beyond her 19 years...If you are a lover of good honest songwriting and great vocals, I would highly recommend 'Stories from a Porcelain City'" (Craig Wilson, 2014). Imogen is currently preparing to embark on A Tale of Three Cities Tour in July 2014, which will include both urban and regional areas of Melbourne, Adelaide and Sydney. On top of her performance successes, in August 2013 Imogen was shortlisted for APRA’s prestigious Vanda & Young Songwriting Competition with her original song 'Ceaseless Goodbye', placing her in the top 35 out of 3,300 entries amongst artists such as Josh Pyke and Emma Louise. Imogen joins past shortlisters and winners of the competition, Gotye, Megan Washington and Eskimo Joe. Following this, in April 2014, 'Ceaseless Goodbye' was given an Honourable Mention in the Nashville-based International Songwriting Competition, placing Imogen in the top 1% of 19,000 worldwide entries and making her 1 of 16 world finalists in her category. The judges of what is deemed to be the world’s most prestigious song competition include Tom Waits, Robert Smith (The Cure), Black Francis (The Pixies) and Ketch Secor (Old Crow Medicine Show).
