I was born and raised in Fayetteville, Georgia but now call Tennessee home. My music provides about as clear a picture of me as you can get. I write to process life - to celebrate the good and try to make meaning out of the bad. I guess it makes sense that I'm crazy about music because I'm a descendent of A.P. Carter and cousin of June Carter Cash. When I was 15, I recorded an album of fiddle tunes and Carter Family songs at Classic Recording Studio in Bristol, TN. My late uncle, Bugs Cornett, helped spark my love for country and old time music, giving me my first instrument when I was 5 - the violin I play today.
As a teenager, I got to sing the national anthem in front of 30,000 people for a Braves Major League Baseball game. After that performance, I knew I wanted have a career in music. When I was 18, I moved to Knoxville, TN to attend The University of Tennessee (GO VOLS!). Then, I moved to Boston, MA where I studied at Harvard. After years of dreaming about it, I finally moved to Nashville in July 2012 to pursue a career in music.
My dream is for my songs to be as much of a soundtrack to other people’s lives as they are to my own. I hope my music helps others process their own experiences and find comfort knowing no one is alone in what we go through. Thanks for taking time to read a little about me!
